Whereas a den can be used for such things as work being brought home from time to time, a man cave is just for comfort and enjoying himself and those very few friends he allows in.
Since the purpose of this room is comfort, everything to assure this will be present. A wet bar may be one of them. There will also be a refrigerator or at the very least, a nice cooler. This will be for the sodas, snacks and beer that is almost always necessary. There may even be something that keeps a beer keg cold and on tap.
Many men have hobbies and this will be represented in this space. Their hobby may be coin collecting. All of the necessary supplies, such as books, catalogs, wipes and alcohol will be available here. A table with appropriate lighting will be there. A comfortable chair will be at the table at the proper height. Other supplies as well a shelves and lockable cabinets will be installed as necessary.
Other hobbies, such as hunting and fishing will also find display space. Rifle racks on the wall and fishing poles on display will be the normal view to others. There will be cabinets specifically for ammunition and there may also be a reloading station to keep him fully locked and loaded.

They are fundamentally unable to function in a room that is not set up for them in this fashion, except for short periods of time in social occasions.
